Since 1633, 149 members of the House of Habsburg have found their final resting place in the Imperial Crypt beneath the Capuchin Church on Neuer Markt. It is the principal burying place for members of the former imperial house of Austria. The most recent entombment was that of the former crown prince and EU politician Otto Habsburg in 2011.
- 12 emperors and 19 empresses and queens have been buried in the Imperial Crypt
- As part of the funeral ceremony, the body, the hearts and the viscera of the Habsburgs were entombed in separate places
- You can see not only the splendid tombs of Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Francis I but also the sarcophagi of Empress Elisabeth and Crown Prince Rudolf
