The baroque Esterházy Palace is one of the landmarks of Eisenstadt, the capital of the Province of Burgenland. The former princely residence presents a fascinating view of the glamorous life once lived at the court of the Princes Esterházy. In 1622, Prince Esterházy became ruler of Eisenstadt and received ownership of the palace. It was extended and reconstructed several times and adapted to the fashion and taste of the times. Since 1945, it has housed various institutions of the Provincial Government of Burgenland.
